Fontella Chianti DOCG 2020

Dark garnet colour. Aromas and flavors of red cherry, fennel and star anise, rose, leather, and wisps of barn yard, and bitter cocoa with a satiny, crisp, dry medium body and a tingling, delightful, medium-length finish that exhibits notes of strawberry cherry fruit leather, star anise, fig, and tobacco. A wine that makes you want to order an extra course and linger on the piazza in Sienna watching the horses.

Traditional blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo, from selected vineyards in the Chianti DOCG area.

Not quite in same class as recent chianti from Wine Direct released earlier this year-but also half the price. Excellent value for a red wine: you don't have to worry about finding a superior food to match at this excellent price.
Hard pushed to find a NZ red at this price/quality ratio!
