Peninsula Vino Atlantico (Txakoli) 2021
Txakoli, pronounced cha-coal-ee is a lightly sparkling, dry white wine from the north of Spain, made to drink while it's young (typically within a year of bottling). Its high acidity and low alcohol make it taste clean, fresh and zingy. It's made from the rare Hondarrabi Zerratia grape, which is a relative of the French white grape, Petit Manseng, which is found not too far north of here in southern France.
Clear, dense straw yellow with green reflections. Complex aroma composition sets the mood for the enjoyment of the wine. Ripe fruity aromas of apricot, peach, ripe apple and citrus notes are completed with brioche and slightly roasted notes. A long prelude sets the mood for the strong body. The acidity and tannins are wonderfully integrated. In the mouth, the citric notes that were previously perceived in the nose are repeated. These combine with salty notes. The mouthfeel is creamy and the seasoning aromas come into their own. The finish is long-lasting. Very exciting and harmonious wine that combines a variety of fruit aromas on the nose with a creamy mouthfeel.
