Château de Beauregard Old Vine Cru Beaujolais 2015

The Burrier family have been living in the South of Burgundy for 500 years, and have owned Château de Beauregard for six generations - with a portion of the current vineyard being planted in 1912 with an average vine age of 75 years plus.

An exceptionally run estate with 43 hectares of vineyards. The Burrier family holdings - Chateau de Beauregard, Georges Burrier and Joseph Burrier - constitute one of the major properties of Southern Burgundy. Its vineyards include top holdings in Pouilly-Fuisse, Saint-Veran, Fleurie, Moulin-À-Vent, Morgon, Saint-Armour and Chiroubles.

"Frédéric Burrier’s excellent wines from the Mâconnais are well-known and rightly celebrated but his outstanding work in Beaujolais is still pretty much an insiders’ secret. From estate-owned vines in the region’s best Crus, Burrier produces a range of top-notch wines that, unsurprisingly from a white wine specialist, showcase vibrancy, balance and finesse. That’s not to say that they lack for depth or structure but the emphasis here is clearly on delicacy over force, even in a rich vintage like 2015."

2015 BEAUJOLAIS: A VINTAGE OF RICHNESS AND ENERGY
"The last three vintages for Beaujolais have been a string of home runs, but 2015 is likely to be the one that delivers the greatest impact and pleasure for most wine lovers. Two thousand fifteen has plenty of candidates for wine of the year; wines that deliver concentration and energy, with opulent fruit character and the classic core of acidity that gives Beaujolais its trademark vivacity. These wines are also built to age but at the same time display an exuberance that makes many of them pretty irresistible now."

"2015 is a vintage whose wines mostly managed to take advantage of a warm, and sometimes hot, growing season while avoiding the potential pitfalls of over-ripeness (Beaujolais with a lack of freshness and energy really misses the point of this appellation). While there are some wines that do show the effects of the heat in a not-so-good way, I have been happily surprised by just how many 2015's show real liveliness, delineation and even tension."
