Paolo Scavino, 2013 Barolo

Scavino is one of the great, established families in Piedmont. Enrico Scavino still runs the estate but both his daughters, Enrica and Elisa, have become increasingly involved in the business over the last few years. Scavino owns 29 hectares entirely in the Barolo area and works on 20 Barolo historical crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno and Roddi.

Enrico Scavino and his daughters stand out from their peers for their never-ending search for quality. They have a scrupulous care and attention to every detail in the vineyards and a passion for terroir. Their core belief is in the supremacy of the viticulture and the transparency of the vineyards. Their focus is simply to grow the very best, ripe and healthy grapes. In winemaking, minimal intervention is sought to preserve the natural diversities and terroir of each cru.

Paolo Scavino Barolo have a depth and elegance unlike any other producer. These wines are rich and dense, concentrated, spicy and zesty, but with no trace of heaviness. These are svelte wines whose polish and sophistication enhance rather than shroud their character and typicity. It’s hard to think of a better introduction to intelligent, sophisticated Barolo than these.
