Querciabella & Rocca di Montegrossi & Villa Cafaggio - Tuscany

Querciabella stands head and shoulders above any other producer in Chianti Classico...and it is truly impressive to see what Castiglione and Currado have managed to achieve at this historic estate in Greve.
— Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"This is a terrific set of wines from Querciabella and winemaker Manfred Ing. The flagship Camartina and Palafreno, are stellar. These days, I find almost as much pleasure in the Chianti Classico, a wine that delivers serious quality and pedigree for the money. I also had a chance to taste the 2016 and 2015 single-vineyard Sangioveses, wines that won’t be released for some time. The 2016s are of course very young, but they have tremendous color and aromatic intensity, while the 2015s exude density while also remaining faithful to their origins. Proprietor Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni deserves all the credit in the world for putting together the team to execute on his vision for making world-class wines that are aligned with his broader philosophical goals of sustainability. These wines are simply gorgeous. That’s all there is to it."
— Antonio Galloni, January 2018

Rocca di Montegrossi
“Rocca di Montegrossi doesn't seem to get the attention of some of its neighbours, but year after year Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi turns out impeccable, striking wines that sit at the very top of the hierarchy in Chianti Classico and Italy more broadly. These new releases are no exception. The wines usually need at least a few years in bottle to come into their own, but make no mistake about it, these are some of the very best wines being made in Italy today.”
— Antonio Galloni, October 2016
