Domaine de la Mordoree Lirac 'La Dame Rousse' 2009
Domaine de la Mordoree Lirac 'La Dame Rousse' 2009 Award - Gold Medal: General Agricultural Show Paris This wine is a blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah from 50 year old vines. The vineyard soil is comprised of clay, chalk with clay, and limestone and sand with pebble stones. All the grapes are harvested by hand. This is a dark, brooding wine. The nose shows primary, dark, brambly red fruit. On the palate there are more dark, plummy fruits and some spice and dried herb notes. It is a modern style, with firm tannin adding impressive structure but with time in the glass this wine opens up beautifully to reveal purple floral notes and fleshy damson fruit flavours.
