Gunderloch Nackenheimer Rothenberg Riesling 'First Growth' 2007
Gunderloch Nackenheimer Rothenberg Riesling 'First Growth' 2007 The middle terrace of the Nackenheim Rothenberg vineyard is very steep, and it is here that a small amount of weather beaten iron and slate-based soil produces this very special dry Riesling. Stupendously good wine. "The Gunderloch 2007 Nackenheimer Rotenberg Riesling (vinified entirely in large casks) offers alluring scents of orange blossom, narcissus, clove, Szechuan pepper, smoky black tea, and tangerine zest. Musky, zesty, and pungent on the palate but at the same time both creamy and refreshing, this finishes long on elegance, refinement, intriguing pungency, and stony, smoky mineral allusions typical for its great site. The longer you savor a glass of it, the more nuances you encounter, and I would not hesitate to plan on following it in my cellar for at least a decade". - 93/100 David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate
