Ch Gigognan Côtes du Rhône 'Vignes du Prieure' 2007
Ch Gigognan Côtes du Rhône 'Vignes du Prieure' 2007 Ch Gigognan’s Cotes du Rhone vineyards lay on land composed of marly sand and limestone. The vineyards are exposed full south and slope down to the gates of the estate. The wine itself is a blend of 44% Grenache, 27% Syrah, 19% Mourvedre and 10% Carignan aged in the old-fashioned concrete tanks which tends to do a good job of preserving fruit freshness and purity. Ripe, polished and spicy with aromas of wild strawberry, dried flowers and liquorice. Round and sweet, up-front fruit with supple, but firm tannin and lovely violet floral notes coming through with time in the glass. Delicious.
