Cave de Lugny Mâcon-Lugny 2008
Cave de Lugny Mâcon-Lugny 2008 In the heart of the Mâconnais region of Burgundy lies La Cave de Lugny - the largest wine producer in Burgundy. Currently, they have 1,450ha of vineyards under cultivation across 21 different Mâconnais villages. La Cave de Lugny produces 6 million bottles of wine annually and has three cellar-shops open to the public (worth a visit if you're ever in the area) which offer a vast range of Burgundy AOC, Mâcon-Lugny and Crémant de Bourgogne wines all bottled on the premises. They also have three production sites: Lugny, Chardonnay (yes, Chardonnay is the village after which the variety is named) and Saint-Gengoux-de-Scissé. Cave Lugny are recognised as perhaps the most adept in all of Burgundy at making significant quantities of very good quality yet affordable wines."“This Mâcon-Lugny is made from 100% Chardonnay. It is clean and fresh on the palate, and has floral and fruity aromas and a hint of lemon. Golden green in colour when young, this wine is dry and intense and has an almost creamy texture. A slightly spicy character adds extra complexity and makes this wine great value for money.”
