Philippe Senard candidly said that “while 2006 produced great whites, I was honestly quite surprised by the quality of the reds. They’re not nearly as far the ‘05s as one might have thought given the relatively poor August weather that we had. It’s important to point out though that the two vintages produced very different kinds of wines. The ‘06s are based on their fruit whereas the ‘05s are based on their structure. I like the ‘06s as it’s a vintage of pleasure and the wines are fruity, fresh, balanced and very transparent plus they will give their pleasure young.”
