“The Cavallotto Barbera d'Alba Superiore Vigna Cuculo is another remarkable wine from this great vintage. Fully ripe and opulent, but with singing acidity and low tannins. It shapes as one of the best Barberas to emerge from this superb vineyard, with many years of life ahead in the cellar. This has a medium-full palate weight, but is perfectly balanced by the fine acidity. A gorgeous wine to savour with classic Piedmont dishes. (wild boar 'cinghiale' porcini mushrooms and bacon with a Barolo reduction anyone?)  The wine has been aged in large Slavonian casks in the family's ancient cellars for 18 months. This is very traditional and aged  for the same length of time as the Barolo. From grapes harvested on a west-facing vineyard on Bricco Boschis. There are very few Barberas made in this style and the pedigree and excellence on display here is undeniable. Tasted at the Estate September 2023."
