Alain Voge, Cornas 2016

"Northern Rhône wine lovers with purist leanings will be head over heels with the soon-to-be-released 2016 vintage, which offers an abundance of energetic, well-balanced and generally graceful wines. A number of producers call it a “dream vintage” for the wines’ collective balance, freshness and expression of terroir. Based on the performance of the wines I tasted from barrel in late March and early June, 2016 is a vintage that’s a must-buy for readers who prize Syrah built along pure, graceful lines. Even so, the wines are in no way lacking depth of flavor or structure, which leads me to think that many of the wines will hit their 20th birthday in fine form."
— Josh Raynolds, Vinous 2018

Winemaker Albéric Mazoyer today is the leading force behind the incredible quality coming from Domaine Alain Voge. Previously working with Michel Chapoutier, Albéric came on board in 2004 in a part-time/managerial role, yet quickly left his position at Chapoutier to join Alain Voge full time. The driver behind moving the vineyards to organic farming and opening up export markets, Albéric also raised the quality of the St Péray releases to another level.

Today the estate covers 6.5 hectare in Cornas and 4-plus hectare in St Péray from which they make brilliant organically farmed Syrah and Marsanne wines of tremendous purity and finesse.

"Albéric Mazoyer continues to keep this estate at the top of the pyramid in Cornas. The winemaking is impeccable, with one foot in the past and one in the future, which is always a good sign. The entire domain is cultivated using organic and biodynamic viticulture."
— Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
